CTRL+ESC (or the Windows key) opens the Start Menu in Windows. ALT+W and ALT+M are not Start Menu shortcuts, and SHIFT+ESC alone doesn't open it.

F3 opens the search/find dialog in Windows Explorer and many applications. F1 is for help, F2 renames files, and F4 has app-specific uses like address bar in Explorer.

Lenticular galaxies are disk galaxies that have lost their spiral structure and appear lens-shaped. They have a central bulge and disk but no spiral arms, distinguishing them from both spiral and elliptical galaxies. The name literally means 'lens-shaped'.

The Hubble Space Telescope is the primary instrument used to observe and track movements of galaxies. Note option C has the correct spelling while option B does not.

The Sombrero Galaxy (M104) gets its name from its distinctive hat-like appearance when viewed from Earth, with a bright nucleus surrounded by a thick dust lane that resembles a Mexican sombrero's brim. It is located in the Virgo constellation, about 29 million light-years away.

The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is named after the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, whose crew documented these satellite galaxies during their circumnavigation voyage in the 16th century. The LMC is the largest satellite galaxy of the Milky Way.

Cygnus A was one of the first radio galaxies discovered (in the 1940s) and is one of the brightest radio sources in the sky. It is a powerful radio galaxy located in the Cygnus constellation, approximately 600 million light-years from Earth, and its discovery helped establish radio astronomy.

The Cigar Galaxy (Messier 82 or NGC 3034) is a starburst galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major that gets its name from its elongated, cylindrical shape resembling a cigar. It is located approximately 12 million light-years from Earth and is undergoing intense star formation activity.

The Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy is the closest known galaxy to the Milky Way, located approximately 25,000 light-years from our solar system. It was discovered in 2003 and is classified as a dwarf galaxy. Many people mistakenly think Andromeda is nearest, but Andromeda is about 2.5 million light-years away.

The Baby Boom Galaxy (M82) is recognized as the brightest galaxy in the infrared spectrum due to its intense star formation activity. It earns its name from the exceptionally high rate of star birth, producing stars at a rate hundreds of times faster than our Milky Way. Note that option B has a typo - it should be 'Andromeda'.

Messier 87 (M87), also known as Virgo A, is one of the most massive galaxies in the local universe, containing several trillion stars. It's a giant elliptical galaxy famous for hosting the first black hole ever directly imaged. While Andromeda is larger than the Milky Way, M87 is significantly more massive than both, with an estimated mass of about 2.4 trillion solar masses.

BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) is firmware that initializes hardware during the boot process - it is not a battery. CMOS is a memory chip that uses a small battery to maintain BIOS settings, Li-ion is a common rechargeable battery type, and NiMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride) is another battery chemistry.

SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is the standard protocol for sending email messages between mail servers. FTP is for file transfers, SSH is for secure remote access, and POP3 is for retrieving email (not sending).

RAM (Random Access Memory) is volatile memory - it requires continuous power to maintain data and loses all stored information when power is turned off. Cache is volatile too but is a type of RAM, hard drives and ROM are non-volatile storage that retain data without power.

BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) is stored on a flash memory chip on the computer's motherboard. This allows it to be non-volatile (retained when power is off) while also being updateable through 'flashing.' The BIOS is NOT stored on removable media like hard drives, diskettes, or USB drives - it must be permanently accessible during boot.

192.168.1.100 is in the private IP address range 192.168.0.0/16, which is reserved for local networks according to RFC 1918. The other options are all public IP addresses: 74.125.127.100 belongs to Google, 69.72.169.241 is a public address, and 209.131.36.100 belongs to Yahoo. Private IP ranges (10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/12, 192.168.0.0/16) are not routable on the internet and used only for internal networks.

Blu-ray discs have the highest storage capacity among the options listed. A standard Blu-ray disc holds 25 GB (single-layer) or 50 GB (dual-layer). By comparison, DVDs hold 4.7 GB (single-layer) or 8.5 GB (dual-layer), CDs hold 700 MB, and floppy diskettes hold only 1.44 MB. Blu-ray uses blue-violet laser technology with a shorter wavelength (405 nm) than DVDs' red laser (650 nm), allowing for more data storage on the same disc size.
