Women Writers and Feminism

Mary Wollstonecraft is considered to be the first feminist writer because of her book "A Vindication of the Rights of Woman", which was published in 1792. In this book, Wollstonecraft argues that women are rational creatures who deserve the same rights and opportunities as men.

Charlotte Perkins Gilman is known for her novel "The Yellow Wallpaper", which was published in 1892. The novel tells the story of a woman who is driven to madness by her husband's insistence that she rest in a secluded room with yellow wallpaper.
