India's Foreign Policy in Southeast Asia

Japan is not a member of ASEAN. ASEAN is a regional organization comprising ten Southeast Asian countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The India-ASEAN Summit is an annual summit between India and ASEAN leaders. It is held to discuss and strengthen cooperation between India and ASEAN in various areas, including trade, investment, security, and cultural exchanges.

The "Look East" policy was first proposed by Indian Prime Minister Narasimha Rao in 1991. The policy aimed to strengthen India's relations with Southeast Asian countries and promote economic cooperation between India and the region.

The India-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (IAFTA) is a free trade agreement between India and ASEAN. It was signed in 2009 and came into effect in 2010. The agreement covers trade in goods, services, and investment.
