Mohiniyattam Dance: Stalwarts and Art Form

Kalamandalam Kalyanikutty Amma (1915-1999) is widely regarded as the matriarch of Mohiniyattam. She was a renowned dancer, teacher, and choreographer who played a pivotal role in reviving and popularizing the art form.

Guru Gopinath (1908-1987) is considered the pioneer of the modern Mohiniyattam style. He was a renowned dancer, choreographer, and teacher who dedicated his life to preserving and promoting the art form.

Guru Gopinath choreographed several famous Mohiniyattam dance compositions, including Varnam in Raga Shankarabharanam, Padam in Raga Bhairavi, and Thillana in Raga Sindhubhairavi.
