Indian History: Independence Leaders and Presidents

Jatayu, the noble vulture king, fought valiantly to save Sita when Ravana was abducting her. He was mortally wounded in the battle and later died in Rama's arms after informing him of Sita's abduction.

In the Ramayana, Mareecha (also spelled Maricha), a demon who could shape-shift, helped Ravana kidnap Sita.
