Maulana Abul Kalam Azad founded the journal Al-Balagh in 1915 to promote nationalist causes and Hindu-Muslim unity. He later became independent India's first Minister for Education (1947-1958), pioneering institutions like UGC and IITs.

Bankim Chandra Chatterjee composed 'Vande Mataram' in Sanskrit-Bengali for his 1882 novel 'Anandamath'. The song became a rallying anthem during India's independence movement and was later adopted as India's national song, not to be confused with the national anthem 'Jana Gana Mana' by Tagore.

Ghoomar is a traditional folk dance of Rajasthan, performed by women in flowing skirts that create spinning patterns. It's associated with the Bhil community and performed during festivals, celebrations, and special occasions like weddings.

'Satyameva Jayate' (Truth alone triumphs) is taken from the Mundak Upanishad, one of the ancient Hindu philosophical texts. It was adopted as India's national motto and appears below the Lion Capital of Ashoka at Sarnath, used as the national emblem.

Lord Canning was Governor-General of India when the 1857 Revolt began. He served from 1856-1862 and became the first Viceroy of India after the rebellion. The revolt started in May 1857 with the sepoy mutiny at Meerut, spreading across northern India.

Gopal Krishna Gokhale was a mentor to Mahatma Gandhi, who described him as his guide and political guru in his autobiography. Gokhale served as President of the Indian National Congress in 1905 and was a key figure in India's independence movement, advocating for moderate reforms and constitutional methods.

Sarojini Naidu (1879-1949) was the first Indian woman to become President of the Indian National Congress in 1925 and later the first woman Governor of Uttar Pradesh from 1947-1949. She was a prominent freedom fighter and poet known as 'The Nightingale of India.' Vijayalakshmi Pandit was also a significant figure but became Governor of Maharashtra, not Uttar Pradesh.

Chandrasekhar Azad (1906-1931) famously vowed never to be captured alive by the British and carried a pistol to end his own life if cornered. In 1931, surrounded by police at Alfred Park in Allahabad after being betrayed by an informer, he shot himself to avoid arrest, dying as he had lived - a free man. His last words reflected his revolutionary commitment to freedom.

Khudiram Bose (1889-1908) was 18 years old when he threw a bomb at the carriage of a British magistrate in Muzaffarpur in 1908, targeting Kingsford who was known for harsh sentencing of nationalists. The attempt mistakenly killed two British women. Bose was arrested, tried, and hanged at age 18, becoming one of the youngest martyrs of the Indian independence movement.

Annie Besant founded the Home Rule League in Calcutta in 1916, while Bal Gangadhar Tilak established a separate branch in Maharashtra the same year. Both leaders worked toward self-rule for India, but Besant led the Calcutta branch. Bipin Chandra Pal and Aurobindo Ghosh were prominent nationalists but not associated with founding this league.

Babur, founder of the Mughal Empire, specifically requested to be buried in Kabul rather than his homeland Ferghana or the capital Agra. His garden tomb in Kabul still exists. Samarkand was Timur's capital and important to Babur, but not his chosen resting place. The question tests knowledge of Babur's personal wishes.

Tripitaka (Pali Canon) is the primary sacred text of Buddhism, containing the Buddha's teachings organized into three 'baskets' (pitakas). Upanishads and Vedas are Hindu sacred texts, while Jatakas are stories about Buddha's previous lives but not the main scripture.

Muhammad Ali Jinnah died of natural causes (tuberculosis) in September 1948. Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in 1948, Liaqat Ali Khan in 1951, and Lord Mountbatten in 1979 - all were assassinated.

Bahadur Shah Zafar was the last Mughal emperor when the British captured him after the 1857 revolt, ending Mughal rule in the Red Fort. He was exiled to Rangoon where he died in 1862.

The Battle of Plassey (1757) was fought between Siraj-ud-Daula's forces and the British East India Company led by Lord Clive. Clive's victory marked the beginning of British political control over India.
