A medical student can take the USMLE up to three times.

If a medical student fails the USMLE three times, they can no longer practice medicine, they must retake the USMLE, and they must complete a remediation program.

The name of the organization that accredits medical schools in the United States is the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

The purpose of the ACGME is to ensure that medical schools are providing a high-quality education, to develop and implement standards for medical education, and to accredit medical residency programs.
