Cape Comorin was the British colonial name for Kanyakumari, used until India's independence. The name comes from the nearby Cape Comorin point. The other capes listed are famous geographic landmarks but not associated with this location.

When Kanyakumari became part of the Venad kingdom, Padmanabhapuram served as the capital city. This is the historically correct answer. Thiruvananthapuram became important later under Travancore rule, but Padmanabhapuram was the seat of power during the Venad period.

St. Francis Xavier, the Jesuit missionary, pioneered Christian missionary work in the Kanyakumari district during the 16th century. He arrived in Goa in 1542 and traveled extensively along southern India's coasts. St. Thomas visited India much earlier, but Xavier is specifically associated with Kanyakumari's Christianization.

The Vivekananda Rock Memorial was built in 1970 and inaugurated in November of that year. It commemorates Swami Vivekananda's meditation on the rock in 1892. The memorial has become an iconic landmark and pilgrimage site at the confluence of seas.

Kanyakumari district has achieved near-complete literacy at 99%, making it one of India's most educated districts. The 0.99 figure represents this exceptional achievement. This high literacy rate is a result of sustained educational investment and social development in the region.

Maharaja Marthanda Varma defeated the Dutch East India Company at the Battle of Colachel in 1741, marking a decisive victory that halted Dutch expansion in Travancore. This battle is significant as one of the rare instances where an Asian power defeated a European colonial force in the 18th century.

P. Chidambaram served as the Minister of Home Affairs in the UPA government (2008-2012). Anand Sharma was Minister of Commerce, Vilasrao Deshmukh was in various ministries but not Home Affairs, and S.M. Krishna was External Affairs Minister.

Murli Deora served as Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas from 2006-2011. Pranab Mukherjee was Finance Minister, Sharad Pawar was Agriculture Minister, and S. Jaipal Reddy held Urban Development.

Pranab Mukherjee served as Finance Minister (2009-2012) before becoming President of India. He was a senior Congress leader and held various key portfolios. Vilasrao Deshmukh, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, and Murali Deora held different ministerial positions.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah served as Minister of New and Renewable Energy (2009-2014). P. Chidambaram was Home Minister, Praful Patel was Heavy Industries Minister, and Dr. Monmohan Singh was the Prime Minister.

The World Trade Center's North Tower became the tallest building in the world upon completion in 1972 but held this title only until 1974, when the Sears Tower in Chicago surpassed it.

Windows on the World was a renowned restaurant located on the 106th and 107th floors of the North Tower. It was one of the highest restaurants in the world and featured spectacular views of New York City.

A significant fire occurred on the 11th floor of the North Tower in 1975, just a few years after the building's completion. It was one of the most serious high-rise fires of its time and led to improved safety regulations.
