Philosophy of Beauty and the Divine

In Plato's Symposium, Diotima argues that the highest form of beauty is divine beauty, which transcends physical and moral beauty and leads to the contemplation of the eternal and unchanging realm of Forms.

In Christian theology, beauty is seen as a reflection of God's perfection, a means to glorify God, and a way to experience God's presence.

Thomas Aquinas identified three essential qualities of beauty: unity, variety, and proportion.
