The Indian National Congress declared 'Purna Swaraj' (Complete Independence) as its goal at the Lahore session in December 1929 under Jawaharlal Nehru's presidency. This led to the first Independence Day celebration on January 26, 1930. The 1928 Calcutta session had the Dominion Status goal, and Karachi in 1930 was after the declaration.

Pulakesin II (r. 610-642 CE), the most powerful Chalukya ruler, held the titles 'Sri Prithvi-Vallabha' (Lord of the Earth) and 'Parameswara' (Supreme Lord). He defeated Harsha and expanded the Chalukya empire. Pulakesin I was the founder, Kirtivarman was his father, and Mangalesa was his uncle.

India's first currency notes were issued during the reign of Samudra Gupta (c. 4th century CE) of the Gupta dynasty, often called India's 'Golden Age.' These were likely gold or silver coins. Vikramaditya was a later legendary king, Akbar was Mughal (16th century), and Ashoka was Mauryan (3rd century BCE - different currency system).

Vishnusharma is credited as the author of the Panchatantra, a collection of Sanskrit fables dating to around 3rd century BCE. The stories use animal characters to teach practical wisdom and statecraft. Bilhana wrote Vikramankadevacharita, Amarasimhan wrote Amarakosha, and Nagarjuna was a Buddhist philosopher.

Babur wrote the Baburnama (his memoir in Chagatai Turkic) and Jahangir wrote the Tuzuk-i-Jahangiri (his autobiography in Persian). Both are valuable historical sources. Humayun did not write a memoir, and Akbar's chronicle (Ain-i-Akbari) was written by Abul Fazl, not by Akbar himself.

Ashoka (r. 268-232 BCE) belonged to the Maurya dynasty, founded by Chandragupta Maurya. After the Kalinga War, Ashoka embraced Buddhism and became a great ruler known for his edicts and dhamma. The Nanda dynasty preceded the Mauryas, Kushana came later, and the Gupta dynasty was several centuries after Ashoka.

Gandhi delivered the 'Do or Die' slogan during the Quit India Movement on August 8, 1942, in his speech at the All-India Congress Committee session in Bombay. This was a call for immediate independence from British rule.

Annie Besant became the first woman President of the Indian National Congress in 1917. She was a British socialist, theosophist, and women's rights activist who supported India's freedom struggle.

Surendranath Banerjea founded the Indian Association in 1876 as a political organization that became a precursor to the Indian National Congress. The association played a crucial role in mobilizing political nationalism in India.

Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak started Kesari in 1881 as a Marathi newspaper to advocate for Indian independence. It became a powerful voice for the freedom struggle.

The Quit India Movement was launched by Mahatma Gandhi in August 1942 during the All-India Congress Committee session in Bombay. It was a mass civil disobedience movement demanding immediate independence from British rule.

Annie Besant founded the Home Rule League in 1916 to advocate for self-rule in India. She established the league after the Congress party split, launching a movement that mobilized Indians across the country. Bal Gangadhar Tilak started a separate Home Rule League the same year, but Besant's leadership in Madras was particularly influential.

Subhash Chandra Bose took leadership of the Indian National Army (INA) or Azad Hind Fauj in 1943 after escaping house arrest in India. He reorganized and revitalized the army, inspiring thousands with his slogan "Give me blood, and I will give you freedom!" While Captain Mohan Singh had initially formed the army in 1942, Bose is widely credited as the INA's iconic leader who led it to military action against British forces.

Lal Bahadur Shastri coined the slogan "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan" (Hail the Soldier, Hail the Farmer) in 1965 during the Indo-Pak war. It honored two pillars of Indian society - soldiers defending the border and farmers feeding the nation - at a time of crisis. Shastri gave this slogan to boost national morale and emphasize self-reliance in both defense and food security.

Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay wrote "Vande Mataram" in 1882 as part of his novel "Anandamath." The song, meaning "I bow to thee, Mother," became a rallying cry for India's independence movement. Tagore sang it at the 1896 Congress session, and it was later adopted as India's national song (not anthem) in 1950. Option A is his brother Sarat, and Option C wrote Jana Gana Mana.

Dr. Zakir Hussain became India's first President to die in office on May 3, 1969. He was elected President in 1967 and passed away two years into his term. Following his death, V.V. Giri served as Acting President before being elected later that year. Rajendra Prasad (Option A) completed his full term, while Gyani Zail Singh (Option B) survived an assassination attempt.

Tolstoy Farm was established by Mahatma Gandhi near Johannesburg, South Africa in 1910. Named after Russian writer Leo Tolstoy whose ideas on non-violence inspired him, Gandhi used this 1,100-acre settlement as a base for his satyagraha campaign. Families of satyagrahis lived there in self-sufficient communities, learning simple living and philosophical ideals. It became a model for his later ashrams in India.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar raised this slogan emphasizing that awareness of oppression itself sparks revolt. As India's foremost Dalit leader and chief architect of the Constitution, Ambedkar consistently challenged caste-based slavery through his writings, speeches, and movements. This quote reflects his philosophy that social revolution begins when the oppressed recognize their enslavement. The slogan appears in his works on caste annihilation.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar founded the Independent Labour Party in August 1936 to address workers' and peasants' issues alongside caste oppression. The party contested elections in 1937 and won 15 seats in the Bombay Legislative Assembly, becoming a significant voice for marginalized communities. It later evolved into the Scheduled Castes Federation in 1942. Option C's "Redemption Labout" contains a typo (Labour) and is not a real party.
