Dr. Homi J. Bhabha was the first chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of India when it was established in 1948. He is known as the father of India's nuclear program. Vikram Sarabhai founded ISRO, while Kasturirangan and Bhatnagar were later prominent scientists.

Lala Lajpat Rai died in 1928 after being severely injured during a protest demonstration against the Simon Commission in Lahore. The police lathi-charge on the protesters caused his injuries, and he died shortly after, making him a martyr in India's independence struggle.

The Gupta Dynasty (c. 320-550 CE) is often called the 'Golden Age of Hinduism' as they gave Hinduism extensive state patronage. Hindu temples, art, and literature flourished during this period. While Buddhism and Jainism were also practiced, they did not receive the same level of royal support as during the Mauryan period. Islam had not yet reached India in any significant way during the Gupta era.

Faxian (Fahien), the Chinese Buddhist monk and traveler, visited India during the reign of Chandra Gupta II (Vikramaditya, c. 380-415 CE). His journey (399-414 CE) is documented in his travelogue 'A Record of Buddhist Kingdoms.' He spent several years at Pataliputra studying Buddhist texts. Ashoka, Harshavardhana, and Kanishka ruled in different centuries - Fahien visited during the Gupta period, not their reigns.

Chandra Gupta Maurya (founder of the Mauryan Empire, c. 320-298 BCE) converted to Jainism under the influence of his teacher Bhadrabahu. He abdicated his throne and became a Jain monk, eventually dying through the Jain practice of sallekhana (voluntary fasting unto death) at Shravanabelagola. While the Mauryas supported all religions including Buddhism, Chandragupta personally embraced Jainism, not Hinduism or Buddhism.

Kalidasa, widely regarded as ancient India's greatest Sanskrit poet and playwright, flourished during the reign of Chandra Gupta II (Vikramaditya, c. 380-415 CE). He was one of the 'Navratnas' (nine gems) in Vikramaditya's court. His famous works include 'Shakuntala,' 'Meghaduta,' and 'Raghuvamsha.' Ashoka, Samudra Gupta, and Chandra Gupta Maurya ruled in different periods - Kalidasa belonged specifically to the Gupta period under Chandra Gupta II.

The Election Commission prepares electoral rolls, allocates election symbols, and recognizes political parties. However, candidate selection is done by political parties themselves, not the Election Commission. The EC oversees the election process but does not select candidates.

The Election Commission (Article 324), Finance Commission (Article 280), and UPSC (Articles 315-323) are all constitutional bodies established by the Indian Constitution. The Planning Commission (now replaced by NITI Aayog) was created by an executive resolution in 1950 - it was neither constitutional nor statutory.

Article 15 (prohibition of discrimination) is a fundamental right provision requiring special majority (Article 368) and sometimes ratification by states. Articles 17 (untouchability abolition), 23 (traffic in human beings prohibition), and 27 (no tax for promotion of religion) are also fundamental rights but have different amendment procedures. Article 15's amendment for protective discrimination involved special majority plus state ratification.

Article 217 of the Indian Constitution specifies that High Court judges retire at 62 years of age. This is different from Supreme Court judges who retire at 65 (Article 124(2)).
