The three giants of the High Renaissance are Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Caravaggio (1571-1610) was a Baroque painter who came later, in the late 16th and early 17th century, after the High Renaissance period had ended. He's known for his dramatic use of chiaroscuro (light and shadow).
