Madurai Junction, one of Tamil Nadu's major railway stations, uses the station code 'MDU' as per Indian Railways' standard three-letter abbreviation system. This code is used in ticketing, timetables, and railway operations to uniquely identify the station. MAD, MDR, and MDI are not the correct codes for Madurai.

Koyembedu (also known as Koyambedu) is a major bus terminus in Chennai, not Madurai. Madurai has several bus stands including MIBT at Maattuthavani, Palanganatham, Arappalayam, Periyar, and Anna Bus Stand, but Koyembedu is in Chennai.
