Bhaskara II, also known as Bhaskaracharya, was an Indian mathematician and astronomer who lived in the 12th century. He is credited with discovering the mean value theorem, which states that for a function that is continuous on a closed interval and differentiable on the open interval, there exists a point where the value of the function is equal to the average value of the function on the closed interval.
