Indian Independence Movement

The Battle of Plassey, fought in 1757, marked the beginning of the British East India Company's rule in India. This victory gave the British a strong foothold in the country and led to the eventual establishment of the Indian Civil Defence movement.

Mahatma Gandhi was the leader of the Indian Civil Defence movement. He advocated for nonviolent resistance and civil disobedience as a means to achieve independence from British rule.

The main objective of the Indian Civil Defence movement was to achieve independence from British rule. The movement sought to unite all Indians, regardless of their religion, caste, or creed, in the struggle for freedom.

The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, which took place in 1919, is considered to be the turning point of the Indian Civil Defence movement. The massacre, in which British troops killed hundreds of unarmed Indian civilians, led to widespread outrage and galvanized the Indian people to join the movement for independence.

India finally achieved independence from British rule on August 15, 1947. This day is celebrated as Independence Day in India.

The Battle of Mandalay, which took place in 1945, is considered to be the last major battle of the Indian Civil Defence movement. The battle resulted in the capture of Mandalay by the British and Indian forces, and marked the end of organized Japanese resistance in Burma.
