Environmental Standards and Regulations

The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, and The Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 are the three main legislations in India that aim to protect and improve the environment by regulating the discharge of pollutants into the environment.

The primary objective of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) is to adjudicate environmental disputes. It is a specialized environmental court that hears and decides cases related to environmental protection and conservation.
