 Cement is indispensible for building and construction work and cement industry is considered to be an important infrastructure core industry. The first attempt to manufacture cement in India was made in 1904 when a mill based on sea shells as a source of limestone was established at Chennai. But this attempt proved unsucessful and a really successful attempt was made in 1912-13 when the Indian Cement Co. Ltd. set up a plant at Porbandar in Gujarat.

In December 1916, First unit at Lakheri in Rajasthan was started. 

Lakheri is a city and a municipality in Bundi district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is located in southeast northern Indian state of Rajasthan. National Chambal Sanctuary, also called the National Chambal Gharial Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the Shore of Chambal River. It conserves crocodiles and alligators. Apart from this it also protects critically endangered gharial (small crocodiles), the red-crowned roof turtle and the endangered Ganges river dolphin.

Vijaystambh and Kirtistambh are one among many historical sites present in Rajasthan. This stambh or pillar is an imposing victory monument located in Chittorgarh of Rajasthan. It was constructed by Mewar king Rana Kumbha in 1448 to commemorate his victory over the combined armies of Malwa and Gujarat led by Mahmud Khilji.
