Chitta Ranjan Das was a prominent leader of the Non-Cooperation Movement (1920-1922) and served as mayor of Kolkata. He later co-founded the Swaraj Party in 1923 after the movement was suspended. Quit India (1942) and Salt March (1930) were different movements led by other leaders.

Lala Lajpat Rai was famously known as 'Punjab Kesari' (Lion of Punjab) and was a leading nationalist from that region. He was part of the Lal-Bal-Pal triumvirate with Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Bipin Chandra Pal. Bengal, Bihar, and Haryana were not his home regions.

Bal Gangadhar Tilak founded and edited 'Kesari' (Marathi) and 'Maratha' (English) newspapers to promote nationalist ideas. Lala Lajpat Rai was from Punjab, Chitta Ranjan Das was from Bengal, and Sarojini Naidu was from Hyderabad. Tilak was the prominent Marathi leader.
