Metal and non-metals

Dmitri Mendeleev published his first version of the periodic table in 1869. This allowed for the systematic organization of elements based on their properties.

Phosphorus is historically recognized as the first element to be discovered by a specific individual, Hennig Brand, in 1669. Other elements like carbon and oxygen were known since ancient times.

Mendeleev's genius was leaving gaps in his table for elements that had not yet been discovered. He correctly predicted the properties of these missing elements based on the patterns of the table.

Dmitri Mendeleev is widely credited with creating the foundational structure of the modern periodic table. While others contributed, his version was the most influential.

Magnesium (Mg) has an atomic number of 12. It is in Group 2 (alkaline earth metals) and Period 3 of the periodic table.

Lithium is the first element in the second period (Period 2, Group 1).

Non-metals generally have lower boiling and melting points compared to metals. Metals are typically characterized by high melting and boiling points.

Brittleness is the tendency of a material to fracture or break under stress. This is a characteristic property of solid non-metals.
