Forms of energy

Temperature is a measure of the average kinetic energy of the particles in an object, so a higher temperature corresponds to greater thermal energy for a given substance.

Uranium and plutonium are nuclear fuels used in nuclear fission reactions, not thermal fuels (which typically refer to combustible fossil fuels or biomass that release heat through chemical combustion).

An electric stove converts electrical energy into thermal energy (heat) via resistive heating elements to cook food.

When an object is heated, its particles gain kinetic energy and move further apart, causing the object to expand (thermal expansion).

Non-moving objects at a height possess gravitational potential energy due to their position relative to the ground. This stored energy has the potential to do work when the object is released and begins to fall.

A light bulb is designed to convert electrical energy into light energy. Although some thermal energy (heat) is also generated as a byproduct, light is the primary intended output.

Plants use light energy (solar radiation) rather than thermal energy to power the chemical reactions of photosynthesis. This light energy is absorbed by chlorophyll to synthesize glucose from carbon dioxide and water.

Mechanical energy is defined as the sum of kinetic energy (energy of motion) and potential energy (stored energy of position). Therefore, it can exist in either or both of these forms.
