World War II in the Pacific concluded after the United States dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, leading to Japan's formal surrender.

Following the fall of Berlin and Hitler's suicide on April 30, 1945, the German government authorized unconditional surrender. This surrender was signed on May 7 and took effect on May 8, 1945, marking V-E Day.
