Dairy farm is the management of animals for milk and its products for human consumption. 

Holstein Friesian is the cow of Australian breed and it has the maximum lactation period. It yields around 10,000 L of milk per year.

Dairy farm management involves maintaining animal health through regular veterinary checkups, ensuring proper nutrition, and providing suitable environmental conditions.

Holstein Friesians are a breed of cattle, known today as the world's highest-production dairy animals. Originating in Europe, Friesians were bred in Netherlands and more specifically in the two northern provinces of North Holland and Friesland, and North Germany. 

Explanation: Exotic cattle were first introduced into this region by colonial farmers. Thus, the origin of exotic cattle is generally traced back to Europe. The most common exotic dairy breeds in the region are Friesian, Holstein, Ayrshire, Jersey, Guernsey and Sahiwal. However, the Friesian breed predominates.

Milk is an emulsion. Human milk contains maximum amount of lactose (milk sugar). It contains all the amino acids in proper amount. It contains all the essential fatty acids but in low quality. Linoleic, linolenic and arachidonic acid are the essential fatty acids. Only few animals have the mechanism to synthesise these fatty acids.

Total milk by volume=90% of 45=40.5 litre of milk.

Buffalo milk is white, a non-transparent liquid produced by the mammary animal. It is a healthy and nutritious daily drink and can be consumed by people of all ages. It has a very high content of fats. It is rich in a variety of minerals and vitamins and therefore buffalo milk has nutritional value. 100 grams of buffalo milk has 97 calories. However, calories from fat are only 8 grams. Whereas cow milk contains  3.9 gram, sheep contains 7 grams and goat milk contains 3.5 grams. Thus, the correct answer is option B.

Jersey is an exotic breed of cattle originating from Jersey Island, U.K. Gir is an Indian breed originating in the Gir forests in Gujarat and are also found in Maharashtra and adjacent Rajasthan. Holstein is also an exotic breed originating in the northern parts of the Netherlands. Brown Swiss is an exotic breed that originated in the mountainous region of Switzerland.

The Nagpuri buffalo is a versatile breed of the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra State and stands better amongst the breeds of buffaloes which combine the milk and drought qualities in a better proportion in adverse climatic conditions. The animals of this breed are very well adapted to the harsh-semi-arid conditions of Vidarbha region and can withstand extreme climatic conditions as high as 47º C even in respect of milk production and fertility. These buffaloes are used for heavy draught purpose and farmers prefer this breed due to its low maintenance cost, efficiency of feed conversion, moderate production and better adaptation to local climatic conditions. Therefore it serves dual purpose of milkers and draught cattle.

The Jersey breed of cattle originated from the island of Jersey in the United Kingdom. It is a popular dairy breed known for high butterfat content in its milk.

Milk yield ranges from 1200-1800 kgs per lactation. This bread is known for its hardiness and disease resistance.

Most of the female buffaloes start showing oestrus during night hours or early morning which is indicative of standing heat. The standing heat period where ‘act’ to be mounted is present but occurs for short period that too in the mid-night. 

Rinderpest is an acute, highly contagious viral disease of ruminant animals, primarily cattle, that was once common in Africa, the Indian subcontinent, and the Middle East. It was caused by a paramyxovirus.

Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a severe, highly contagious viral disease of cattle and swine. It also affects sheep, goats, deer, and other cloven-hooved ruminants.The disease is caused by a virus of which there are seven ‘types’, each producing the same symptoms like fever, blisters in mouth and on feet, drop in milk production, weight loss etc. FMD outbreaks are usually controlled by quarantines and movement restrictions, euthanasia of affected and in-contact animals, and cleansing and disinfection of affected premises, equipment and vehicles. Hence, option A is correct.

When sweet clover becomes spoiled or is improperly cured the coumarol is converted to the toxic substance dicoumarol. This toxin interferes with the metabolism and synthesis of vitamin K. Vitamin K is essential for liver function, necessary to prevent the seepage of blood from the circulatory system and to establish blood clotting. Without vitamin K, the blood will not clot properly after an injury, and this is why sweet clover poisoning is also called sweet clover bleeding disease.

Indian milch cattle belong to two different species- cows (Bos indicus) and Buffalo (Bos bubalis).

Anthrax is a fatal disease which commonly effects humans and cattle. It is caused by spores of bacteria Bacillus anthracis. These spores remain in soil for decades and are also found in bloody discharges of infected animals and can spread to other animals easily.

Clinical signs depend on species of cattle effected. If infection occurs through mouth or nose the symptoms are shown immediately and death occurs rapidly. If infection occurs through skin there will not be acute symptoms but later becomes generalized. If infection is less acute symptoms may be having difficulty in breathing, tremble, collapse and die. Nearby death blood oozes from openings of animal. When infection is localized to throat area, the neck swells and bloody discharge comes from mouth. 

• Lactometer is an instrument which is used to check the purity of milk on the basis of density/buoyancy. Adulteration of water or the addition of any compound in the milk decreases the density. Threshers, cane planter and winnowers are the instrument used in agriculture.

People get infected with anthrax when spores get into the body. 

Cattle husbandry is done for two purposes milk production and agricultural work such as tilling, irrigation and carting.

Milk fever is a disorder of mainly dairy cows close to calving. It is a metabolic disease caused by a low blood calcium level. Feeding jaggery along with lime water, few days prior to calving and giving soft nutritious and easily digestible food for few days after calving prevent milk fever.
