Good yield, vigour and quality of organisms can help am animal sustain a drought and survive. Drought is a prolonged period of abnormally low rainfall, leading to a shortage of water.

Eutrophication can have serious effects, like algal blooms that block light from getting into the water and harm the plants and animals that need it. If there's enough overgrowth of algae, it can prevent oxygen from getting into the water, making it hypoxic and creating a dead zone where no organisms can survive.

Wastes which consist of materials those are difficult to biodegrade so that destruction takes a very long time are known as inorganic wastes. Inorganic wastes come from non renewable natural resources such as minerals and petroleum, or from industrial processes. Some inorganic wastes as a whole cannot be explained by nature, while others can only be described in a very long time.

Examples of inorganic wastes- chemical solvents, paints, sandpaper, paper products, industrial by-products, metals, and radioactive wastes, sand, salt, Iron, Calcium and other mineral materials like  Arsenic.

Recycling is the process of converting waste materials into new materials and objects. It is an alternative to "conventional" waste disposal that can save material and help lower greenhouse gas emissions. Recycling can prevent the waste of potentially useful materials and reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, thereby reducing: energy usage, air pollution (from incineration), and water pollution.

If a substance accumulates in a body for a long time, it will be passed on to next consumer in food chain.

Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies (e.g. lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers and groundwater). This form of environmental degradation occurs when pollutants are directly or indirectly discharged into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds.

Conservation of resources is nothing but using resources optimally to prevent its exhaustion completely from the universe. It can be achieved by stopping misuse of resources. Resources can also be conserved by human population control, reducing pollution.

Dioxins
are a group of dangerous chemicals which are known as persistent organic
pollutants. Dioxins are found throughout the world in the environment. They
accumulate in the food chain, mainly in the fatty tissue of animals. Dioxins
are highly toxic. They can cause reproductive and developmental problems. They can
cause physical and mental abnormality. They can damage the immune system. They can
interfere with hormones and also cause cancer.

Environment forms the surroundings on which life depends. It is very much essential to protect our environment. One among many is by conserving metals. Metals pollute environment and if we conservatively use metals it prevents environmental pollution and also reduces waste disposal.

Renewable sources of energy are those sources of energy which are not limited and can be used again and again. Examples include solar energy, geothermal energy etc. Present day technology should be used in such a way that they can develop use of renewable sources of energy by substituting with non-renewable sources of energy which are limited in nature.

Wastes

Eco-friendly technology focuses on minimizing environmental impact, which aligns with the principles of sustainable development.

Also known as clean tech, green tech and environmental tech, eco-friendly technology can help preserve the environment through energy efficiency and reduction of harmful waste.

For example bamboo is one of the best eco-friendly building materials on the planet. Bamboo has a high strength-to-weight ratio and exceptional durability — even greater compressive strength than brick or concrete. 

The ECOMARK label is a certification mark issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards to products that conform to specific environmental criteria.

In India, a significant portion of the net sown area is rain-fed, with estimates often cited around 60 percent.

Labeling of environmentally beneficial goods and resources extracted by more sustainable methods can help consumers decide which goods and services to buy product. Construction waste is defined as debris generated from the construction, renovation, and demolition of buildings and infrastructure.

Energy efficiency does not come under the purview of eco-labelling.

The main objectives of the 'Eco mark' eco-label are as follows-

• Protecting the environment and to make consumers aware of environmental issues.
• Encouraging efficient management of renewable resources to ensure their availability to future generations.
• Promoting efficient management of non-renewable resources, including fossil fuels.
• Encouraging protection of ecosystems and species diversity.
• Encouraging proper management of chemicals to prevent pollution.

Processing of solid waste is a process that involves energy recovery from the wastes. In this nonrecyclable waste is converted into usable heat, electricity or fuel through various processes such as combustion, gasification, etc. Thus it is a process of treating solid waste which can be further put into use in any form or manner.

Waste management is the process of disposing of waste in a manner that does not harm the environment unnecessarily. It involves collection that is picking up waste material from the source, segregation which involves separating of products which can be recycled from those which are toxic to reduce waste and lastly composting which involves the dumping of waste so that it can be degraded in the environment.

The resources which can be reproduced by physical, chemical and mechanical process is called renewable resources. These are the sources which can be replenished over a period of time. Examples are forest, soil, wild life etc.

Electroplating is widely used in various industries for coating metal objects with a thin layer of a different metal. The layer of metal deposited has some desired property, which the metal of the object lacks.  Electroplating has wide usage in industries. It is also used in making inexpensive jewellery. 

Compounds that accumulate in the bodies cannot be digested and are passed onto the consumers. These are not excreted. These accumulants pass from one body to another by ingestion. This is called bio accumulation. Examples are lead and mercury.

A zero-emissions vehicle, or ZEV, is a vehicle that emits no tailpipe pollutants from the onboard source of power. Harmful pollutants to the health and the environment include particulates (soot), hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, ozone, lead, and various oxides of nitrogen. Although not considered emission pollutants by the original California Air Resources Board (CARB) or U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) definitions, the most recent common use of the term also includes volatile organic compounds, several air toxics and global pollutants such as carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.

Environment is the surrounding in which the life exists. It is very essential to protect environment because life completely depends on environment. Wild life forms major part of environment. They ought to be protected because one way or the other life is interconnected and one form of life depends on the other. In order to protect wild life, hunting has to be stopped.

Environment-friendly, (also referred to as eco-friendly, nature-friendly, and green) are sustainability and marketing terms referring to goods and services, laws, guidelines and policies that claim reduced, minimal, or no harm upon ecosystems or the environment.

During mining, extraction of minerals from rocks generates waste. In this process waste minerals are also generated. It is followed by benefaction wherein the mineral obtained is washed, crystallized etc to separate out the finer waste that comes along. After this, the mineral is chemically treated such that the waste obtained after the process is much different from the waste that entered the system.

Gas leak is a menace during mining mining, especially, methane. This happens more in coal mines, where there is abundance of carbon. An atom of carbon with hydrogen to form methane. It is suffocating and has proved fatal to miners in the past.

Eco-friendly technology encompasses all the listed benefits, including efficiency, toxicity reduction, and waste management.

Eco-mark is a certification issued by Bureau of Indian Standards to products which cause less harm to the environment than their close alternatives, and meet some minimum requirements laid down by the Ministry of Environment and Forests. Sixteen categories of products have been identified in the list which includes soaps and detergents, paints, food items, food additives and preservatives, paper, wood substances, textiles, batteries, lubricating oil, vegetable oils, packaging, plastics, cosmetics, aerosols, pesticides and drugs and electronic goods.

Factories are a major cause of air pollution an need to be checked regularly so that they follow environmental regulation policies. 

SWERA was initiated by UNEP (United Nations Environment Program) along with Global Environment Facility to identify such locations to harness the energy trapped in wind and sun, which is a renewable form of energy.
