Never touch any electrical appliance with wet hands. Wet body can act as a good conductor of electricity. In case of any leakage the person with wet hands will get shock.

Heating effect of current is used in fuse.

water can damage the circuits. it can also create a short circuit which may result into serious accidents. If insulation is damaged, then our body may come into direct contact with the electric current, resulting in an electric shock. Insulation is thus compulsory while working with electricity.

An electric shock may be caused from an appliance due to 
i) Poor insulation of wires,
ii) Touching the appliances with wet hands and 
iii) No earthing of the appliance.
To avoid it,the insulation of wires must be of good quality and it should be checked from time to time particularly when they become old,so that no wire is left naked the appliance should never be operated(or touched)with wet hands and they should always be kept dry.the appliances must have its metallic case earthed the appliances must be provided with a fuse.

There are two major dangers while using electricity. They are 
A) A fire 
B) An electric shock. 
A fire is caused due to overheating of line wired (or cable) for various reasons such as break if insulation or short circuiting,etc to avoid it ,one must use wires (or cables) of current carrying capacity higher than the total current which can flow through the circuit  When using all the appliances at the same time.

User will get shock as water is good conductor of electricity .When water gets into the appliance, it may get into contact with live wire and conduct the charge out of live wire to user.

To avoid electric shock 

Insulators are used in electrical equipment to support and separate electrical conductors without allowing current through themselves.

The current takes the path that is having less resistance . Hence lesser the resistance higher the current and higher the resistance lower the current. So in case of shock current passes though you. A normal person have a resistance of about $10\times 10^3\Omega $ and as there is no different path for the current to move hence its passes to ground though you.
