UNDP works with a purpose to eliminate poverty and decrease disparity through sustainable development in 170 countries. It promotes sustainable development by providing assistance in economic and social sectors, such as forestry, farming, fisheries, etc.

The mandate of the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) is to work to ensure that good nutrition levels and standards of living are available to people across the globe. The FAO endeavours to achieve this aim by improving the agricultural productivity and rural living conditions.

UNDP coordinates technical and investment cooperation among nations. It aims to reduce poverty, eradicate HIV/AIDS, promote democratic governance, prevent crisis and bring about social development.

The World Health Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations that is concerned with international public health. It was established on 7 April 1948, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The WHO is a member of the United Nations Development Group. Its predecessor, the Health Organization, was an agency of the League of Nations.

The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank are institutions in the United Nations system. They share the same goal of raising living standards in their member countries. Their approaches to this goal are complementary, with the IMF focusing on macroeconomic issues and the World Bank concentrating on long-term economic development and poverty reduction.

The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development was created in 1944 to help Europe rebuild after World War II. Today, IBRD provides loans and other assistance primarily to middle income countries. IBRD is the original World Bank institution. It works closely with the rest of the World Bank Group to help developing countries reduce poverty, promote economic growth, and build prosperity.

Nineteen years after its founding, UNICEF was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on 26 October 1965 for "fulfilling the condition of Nobel's will, the promotion of brotherhood among the nations“ and emerging on the world stage as a “a peace-factor of great importance".

United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was outlined in the UN constitution in 1945 and it came into force in 1946. It is a UN agency that works to promote peace and security through international collaboration between countries by education, scientific and cultural reforms. UNESCO is based in Paris.

UNESCO launched the Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme in 1971.

The ILO works to improve labour conditions around the globe.Recognizing its contribution to bettering labour conditions and living standards worldwide, it was accorded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1969.

World Health Organisation sponsors the World Health Day on 7th April every year with aim of spreading more and more health awareness across the globe. On World Health Day, a health issue related theme is issued every year. The theme in 2016 was "Beat Diabetes", in 2017, "Depression" and in 2018, "Universal Health Coverage."
