Migration and Urbanization

Historically, Punjab has been a major destination for labor migration in India due to the Green Revolution and agricultural opportunities.

The term urbanisation refers to the movement of people from rural areas to urban areas. It is often motivated by economic factors.

The term Urbanization refers to the shift of population from villages to cities. Due to urbanization population of cities will increase. People shift from villages to cities in search of food, shelter, education, employment.

Bullock cart is a means of transportation used since ancient times in many parts of India. Even today in many villages people use bullock carts for transportation. It is a cheap and convenient form of transportation.

Villages form backbone of the country. But the condition of villages in present India is not very great. They are not exposed to technology and depend mostly on agriculture working in fields.

Largest component of internal migration in India is rural-urban migration, which means migration from rural areas to urban cities. Villagers move to cities to earn money to support their living.

People who migrate within the country as known as migrants. A people who moves from one place to another in order to find work or better living conditions is known as migrants.

Most of the people get migrated for food, shelter and employment, in present scenario. The most affected factor because of migration is occupation, health, social life, bonding among relatives etc.

To manage the remaining six months, when there is no rain, and no work in the fields everyone borrows money from the mukadam. To pay back this money people work for Mukadam. Mukadam is an agent for sugarcane factories. He helps them to find work in sugarcane fields.

Bangladesh is a country formed after dividing a piece of land from India which lies towards east of India. Migration of people to  India from Bangladesh is observed. This is because of the highest population density found in Bangladesh due to small land and more population. Density of population in Bangladesh is more than India.
