Sound produced by humans - class-IX

A man’s sound is of the lower pitch as compared to the other options. And we know that pitch is directly proportional to the frequency of sound. So, the frequency of man’s voice will be the minimum among all the options.

Since the function of the larynx is to generate sound, its other name is voice box.

    Sound in human body  is produced by larynx , it is an organ in the neck which controls the pitch and volume of sound and also blocks food to go through trachea . 

Larynx is known as the voice box. It is located at the upper end of the windpipe. The vocal cords stretch the larynx in such a way that a passage is created between them. When air passes through this passage the vocal cords vibrate and produce sound.

When we talk, vibrations are produced in our vocal cord. When we touch our throat we can feel the vibrations.

Wavelength, being a quantity of dimension of length, is expressed in $A^0$, i.e., angstroms.

Larynx is responsible for production of sound , and vocal chords are placed inside the larynx , which are responsible for shrill and grave sound , that makes the sound of a lady shrill and of a man , grave .

The vocal cords in men are of 20 mm long. 

Larynx is the portion of the respiratory tract containing the vocal cords which produce sound. It is located between the pharynx and the trachea. The larynx is also called as the voice box.

The name of the strings which vibrate in our voice box when we talk is vocal cords. These are two bands of elastic tissue located side by side in the voice box (larynx) just above the trachea.

Vibration means rapid to and fro movement of an object. Sound of the human voice is produced due to vibrations in the vocal cords.

The larynx is located at the upper end of the windpipe. The vocal chords attached to the larynx, stretch it to create a passage for air. When air passes through this passage, the vocal chords vibrate and produce sound.

The quality of voice depends on the length, thickness and stiffness of the vocal chords. Tight, thin and short vocal chords produce high pitched voice like that of females. Loose, thick and long vocal chords produce low - pitched voice like that of men.

The muscles attached to the vocal cords can expand and contract, thus making them tight and loose. The voice quality changes depending on whether the vocal cords are tight or loose.

The larynx or the voice box is located at the upper end of the windpipe.

The voice quality changes as per the length of the vocal chords. Men have about 20 mm long vocal chords, whereas women have about 15 mm long vocal chords. Children have very short vocal chords. That attributes to the different voices of men, women and children.

The length of the vocal chords differs in men and women, which is why there is difference in the quality of their voice. The length of the vocal chord in men is approximately 20 mm and in women it is 15 mm.

In humans sound is produced by the voice box or larynx. It is the upper part of the windpipe. Two vocal cords are stretched across the voice box leaving a narrow slit. When the lungs force air through the slit, it vibrates and produces sound.

Humans have larynx which consists of vocal folds which helps in producing sound which we call voice.

Phonation is known as process of converting air pressure from lungs into audible vibrations.

Mass of a particle executing a vibration in a wave is constant. The energy and wavelength in a wave in the same medium remain constant. Amplitude of the wave varies with time although the peak value of  the amplitude is constant.

There are 2 vocal cords, which produce sound in humans. There are, in fact, 2 other cords but they do not contribute in producing voice. Those are silent vocal cords.

Average female speaking voice range is $210Hz$

Average male speaking voice range is $125Hz$

Average child speaking voice range is $ 300Hz$

Human sound is produced by the vocal cords, which are located within the larynx (voice box). While the larynx houses them, the vocal cords themselves are the vibrating structures that generate sound.

Human ear has a hearing range of 20Hz to 20KHz.

Frequency of the sound is the characteristic of sound waves that helps us to distinguish between two different sounds. For example, sound produced by man generally have low frequency (i.e. low pitch) whereas that produced by woman have higher frequency (i.e. sharp tone). Thus we can distinguish between two sounds by hearing the frequency (pitch).
