They are an important activity for children which help in keeping their mind and body active. They help in developing a healthy competitive spirit, a team spirit, help in keeping the mind and body fit. They allow the children to use their creativity and while developing their imagination. Games can be indoor as well as outdoor based on where they are played. The Indoor games are Chess and various board games, various card games, billiards, etc. The various outdoor games are Cricket, Football, Hockey, etc.

Karnam Malleswari. Karnam Malleswari (born June 1, 1975) is an Indian athlete. She is best known as a weightlifter who won a bronze medal in the 2000 Summer Olympics at Sydney. She became the first Indian woman to stand on an Olympic victor's podium, and she was the only Indian to win a medal in the 2000 olympic games.

International player Milkha Singh is known as Flying Sikh. He is an Indian former track and field sprinter who was introduced to the sports while serving Indian Army. He was the only Indian athlete to win an individual gold medal at a Commonwealth Games until Krishna Poonia won it at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Karnam Malleswari is a retired Indian weightlifter. She was born on June 1, 1975, in Amudalavalasa, India. She is the first Indian woman in the history of Indian Olympic to win a medal.

Gatka is seen in Nagar Kirtans or in some functions. It was also used for self defence. It is a form of martial art. In the beginning wooden rod and a shield are used to attack or protect oneself from the attack. Some universities have included Gatka in the curriculum and also give training in this martial art. Gatka is also included in the National level school games. In the ancient Indian war skills, many skills similar to Gatka were prevalent. Gatka is performed in Punjab, Thang Ta in Manipur and Kalaripayattu in Kerala.

In many sports grounds a layer of plastic grass is laid which is called as Astroturf. It is most often used in arenas for sports that were originally or are normally played on grass. However, it is now being used on residential lawns and commercial applications as well. The main reason is maintenance artificial turf stands up to heavy use, such as in sports, and requires no irrigation or trimming. It is used in sports like football, hockey, baseball, etc.
