Public property and its protection - - class-VII

PDPP Act can be extented the whole of India except Jammu and Kashmir.

Justice K.T Thomas Committee had proposed amendments in the PDPP Act, 1984.

PDPP act comes into force on 28th of January, 1984.

The objects or the property possessed by a person is called Personal or Private property. It is owned by a person and every right on that object or property is enjoyed by that individual only not by the society or any community.

Parks and Hospitals are not personal property. These are public property as maintained by the Government. These are not used only by the individuals but can be used by every community and society.

Those property which are dedicated towards the utilisation and benefits of public and has exclusive ownership of the government. These properties includes- Railways, Roads and Parks etc. The public property may be divided into 2 major types:             

Airport is not public place, no matter who owns the airport. The public is admitted to certain ares of the airport for specific purposes and subject to applicable by laws.

Commission of mischief by doing any act in respect of any public property is punishable with imprisonment of 5 years. 

Things owned by the individuals are called private property. These things are enjoyed by the individuals only. The things owned or possessed by a community or society are known as public property. Public property is collectively belonged to a group of people together.

Public property is property that is dedicated to public use and is a subset of state property.It can be classified in three types:-

First category of public property includes assets that we use daily. 

Second category includes government offices, lakes, parks, playgrounds and museums. 

Third category covers historical monuments such as forts, stupas, towers, temples and caves.

The full form of PDPP is prevention of damage to public property.
