Management of Natural Resources (Set - I)

Before recycling a waste product, it is segregated and sorted out so that different types of materials are differentiated and categorised for further processes.

Nitrogen oxide and sulphur dioxide are important constituents of acid rain. 

Forests are the hotspots of biodiversity. A measure of biodiversity of an area is the number of species found there.

It is important to conserve forests and wildlife so as to protect biodiversity.

The burning of fossil fuels results in the emission of carbon dioxide, which is a greenhouse gas.

It is heartening to see the revival of traditional water harvesting systems in various ecological zones of India. Communities in the face of adversity have revived or created new water harvesting systems. They have made checkdams, johads and other structures to harvest every drop of rain. Khadin, Surangam and Eris are ancient water harvesting systems.

Coliform is a group of bacteria whose presence in water indicates contamination.

Loss of biodiversity will lead to loss of ecological stability.

Wildlife does not cause any harm to forests.  

Syringes should not be recycled or reused as they can cause infection. So, it is better to discard these syringes by destroying them.

Kerosene is a fossil fuel and it is exhaustible.

A leaky tap is required to be repaired so as to reduce the usage of natural resources.

Sustainable development is the form of growth that meets the current basic human needs, while preserving the resources for future generations.

As our resources are limited, we need to use them carefully.
With the increase in human population, the demand for various resources is also increasing at an exponential rate.
The management of natural resources requires a long term perspective, so that these resources will last for the generations to come and will not merely be used for short-term gains.

The Chipko Andolan (‘Hug the Trees Movement’) was the result of a grass root level effort to end the alienation of people from the forests.
