The major producer of jute in <st1:country-region w:st="on">India is <st1:place w:st="on">Bihar. 

Cotton spinning is commercially done on a large scale by using a spinning machine. 

Looms are used for weaving fabric. Yarns are woven to make fabric by using looms, which can be either manual or power operated. 

Spinning can be done by using takli, charkha, spinning machine, etc. but the simplest tool for this is takli. 

In ancient times, clothes like lungi, dhoti, saree, etc. were not there. 

Jute is a natural plant fiber obtained from jute plant. Harvesting of jute plant is done at the flowering stage. Its stem is then immersed in water for the easy separation of jute fibers.

Cotton balls are of the size of a lemon i.e. are small in size.

The fibers obtained from plants or animals need to be processed before using them to make fabric. This processing of turning fibers into yarn is known as spinning.

The stem is immersed in water for a few days for the easy separation of jute fibers. The stem then rots and the fibers are separated by hand. 

The yarns obtained by processing fibers are arranged together to make fabric. This process is known as weaving. 

The chakra was popularised by Mahatma Gandhi for spinning cotton yarn. 

People started stitching clothes after the invention of sewing needle. Power looms and hand looms are used for weaving fabric. 

Cotton and flax were the fabrics worn by early Indians and Egyptians as these plants were cultivated near the river Nile.

Cotton plant is grown in black soil and at places with warm climate, as it needs higher temperature for growth and good yield. 

Mats, baskets and shuttles are objects which are made using fabrics but rayon itself is a fabric.

Jute is basically produced in Bihar, West Bengal and Assam. Punjab is not a major producer of jute.

Cotton, wool and silk are natural fibers. They are obtained from plant or animal sources. Nylon is a synthetic fiber prepared artificially.

Coconut fibers are small, strong and coarse. These fibers cannot be used to make cardigans, curtains or bags. 

Socks, mufflers and sweaters are made by knitting fibers but blankets are not made by this process. 

Fabric is made form yarn by knitting and weaving. Silk is obtained from the animal source and yarn can be split into thin strands.

Processing cotton fibers from seeds is called ginning. Socks are made by knitting. Charkha was popularised by Mahatma Gandhi. The cultivation of jute is done in rainy season not in winter.
