Endocrine System and Hormones

Kidney is an excretory organ.

Endocrine glands pour their secretions directly into the blood. The glans which have ducts are called exocrine glands.

FSH stimulates the growth and recruitment of immature ovarian follicles in the ovary. FSH stimulates primary spermatocytes to undergo the first division of meiosis, to form secondary spermatocytes.

The presence of thyroxin causes the tadpoles to become adult frog.

Goiter is the enlargement of thyroid gland due to deficiency iodine in blood. Typhoid and pneumonia are bacterial diseases. Jaundice spreads through contaminated food and water.

Progesterone pregnancy maintaining hormone. Aldosterone maintains the balance of salts and water in blood. Adrenaline helps in defense of the body in emergency situations.

Estrogen levels peak towards the end of the follicular phase, which causes a surge in levels of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). This lasts from 24 to 36 hours, and results in the rupture of the ovarian follicles, causing the oocyte to be released from the ovary via the oviduct.

Prolactin is a protein that in humans is best known for its role in enabling female mammals to produce milk.

Pancreas is located below the stomach. Gonads are sex glands i.e. ovary and testes. Trachea is a respiratory organ.

Hormones are secreted by glands with the help of ducts at specific sites or directly pour their secretions in into the blood. Enzymes are only secreted at their site of action.

Nervous and endocrine system coordinate with each other to regulate the activities of the body.
