Jawabit (or firmans) refers to royal orders, decrees, or commands issued by rulers in historical contexts, particularly in medieval India. These were official proclamations carried the force of law.

The Chandela dynasty, famous for building the Khajuraho temples, had their capital at Mahoba in Bundelkhand (modern-day Madhya Pradesh). Mahoba served as their political and administrative center from the 9th to 12th centuries.

Dand Nayaks were military governors in the Vijayanagara Empire who were appointed based on merit rather than hereditary rights. Unlike royal family members, these officials earned their positions through capability and loyalty to the state.
