Prepositions

When referring to a specific point or location where someone is present, we use 'at'. 'I saw Raju at the bus stop' correctly identifies the precise location where Raju was standing.

When expressing satisfaction or dissatisfaction, we use 'satisfied with'. The correct preposition to indicate the object of satisfaction is 'with'. 'Rani's father was not satisfied with her marks' is grammatically correct.

When describing what a story, book, or work is about in terms of its subject matter, we use the preposition 'of'. 'Romeo and Juliet is a story of two lovers' correctly indicates the subject content of the story.

 Picture by Picasso means a painting by Picasso. Note that 'of' is not avaialble among the options. 

When describing what fills or occupies a space, we use 'full of'. 'The room was full of smoke' correctly indicates that smoke completely filled the room.

One is keen 'on' doing something or following something. Hence, 'on' is the correct preposition.

When asking someone to join you on your journey, we use 'on my way'. 'Come with me on my way home' indicates accompanying someone during their journey or route.

When describing movement from one side of something to the other, we use 'across'. 'A dog ran across the road' indicates movement from one side of the road to the other.

When something is positioned alongside the edge of a river, lake, or similar feature, we use 'on the bank'. 'My house is on the bank of the river' correctly indicates location at the riverside.

When starting a journey to a destination, we use 'for'. 'He set out for Bombay' indicates he began his journey with Bombay as his intended destination. The preposition 'for' shows purpose or destination in this context.

We agree with persons, to plans.

When describing a duration of time (how long something has continued), we use 'for'. 'He has been ill for a week' means the illness started a week ago and continues. 'To' indicates direction, 'from' shows origin, and 'in' shows containment - none fit duration context.

When mentioning a specific day or date, we use 'on'. 'On a rainy day' is correct usage. 'In' is used for longer periods like months or years, 'at' for precise times, and 'from' shows origin - none apply to a general day description.

The verb 'prefer' takes the preposition 'to' when making comparisons. 'Prefer X to Y' is the standard pattern. 'Than' is used with comparative adjectives (preferable to), not with prefer itself. 'For' and 'from' don't follow prefer in this context.

When describing how long an action has been continuing (duration), we use 'for'. 'Waiting for five hours' is correct. 'Since' is used with a starting point in time (since 5pm), not duration. 'At' and 'on' don't fit duration context.

When an event or time marker is the subject or introduces a sentence, we use 'on'. 'On his return' means 'when he returned'. 'In' is for containment or periods, 'with' shows accompaniment, and 'along' shows movement alongside - none fit this introductory time phrase.

 We walk 'on' foot.

The verb 'succeed' when followed by an -ing form takes the preposition 'in'. 'Succeeded in making' is the correct pattern. 'To' would make it infinitive (succeeded to make - incorrect), 'for' shows purpose, and 'at' shows location - none are grammatically correct here.

For location, we use 'at' with 'our place' (a specific location). For specific days like 'Republic Day', we use 'on'. 'At our place on Republic Day' is correct. 'In' shows containment, 'for' shows purpose, and 'by' shows the method - these don't fit the context.

When departing or leaving for a destination, we use 'for'. 'Leaving for Bombay' means going towards Bombay as destination. 'To' would mean arriving, 'in' shows location inside, and 'with' shows accompaniment - none fit the departure context.

The sentence means continue the action until you see a church. 'Until' shows the time limit of an action. 'At', 'under', and 'in' are spatial prepositions - they don't convey the temporal sense of continuing up to a point.

For specific dates, we use 'on' (on 3rd February). For years, we use 'in' (in 1975). 'On...in...' is correct. 'For' shows duration/purpose, 'at' for precise times, and 'from' shows origin - none fit the date-year pattern.

 One is angry with person at things. 

The verb 'differ' when expressing disagreement takes 'from' (differ from someone). When mentioning the topic of disagreement, we use 'on'. 'Differ from you on this matter' is correct. 'About', 'in', and 'at' don't follow differ in this context.
