Edwin Hubble discovered the expanding universe theory in 1929 by observing that galaxies are moving away from each other, with more distant galaxies receding faster. Newton's laws describe gravity but not universal expansion. Galileo focused on planetary motion, and Pluto is not a scientist.

Mercury and Venus are the only planets in our solar system without natural satellites (moons). Earth has one moon, Saturn has 82+ moons, and Pluto (now classified as a dwarf planet) has 5 known moons.

Earth's rotation on its axis causes the cycle of day and night as different parts of the planet face toward or away from the Sun. Water, fauna, and flora exist on Earth but are not caused by rotation. Global fusion is not a valid scientific term.

The Sun creates energy through nuclear fusion, where hydrogen nuclei combine to form helium, releasing enormous energy. Nuclear fission splits atoms and is used in power plants on Earth. Conduction and radiation are heat transfer methods, not energy production processes.

Under the Delhi Sultanate, Persian was adopted as the official court language and administrative tongue. This administrative tradition strongly influenced subsequent Indian dynasties, including the Mughals.

Ilango Adikal is traditionally credited as the author of the Tamil epic 'Shilappadikaram' (also transliterated as Silappathikaram or Cilappatikaram). This ancient Tamil literature masterpiece is one of the Five Great Epics of Tamil literature.

Persian was the official court language and administrative language of the Mughal Empire. The Mughals, though of Turkic-Mongol origin, adopted Persian culture and language as it was the language of sophistication and administration in medieval India. Arabic was primarily a religious language, while Urdu and Marathi were not court languages.

Subhas Chandra Bose famously gave the 'Give me blood, and I promise you freedom' speech in Burma in 1944 to motivate the Indian National Army (INA). He was known for his militant approach to gaining independence and formed the Azad Hind Fauj with Japanese support. Gandhi, Tilak, and Nehru were associated with non-violent or different strands of the freedom movement.

Lord Wavell, the Viceroy of India from 1943-1947, convened the Simla Conference in June 1945 to discuss constitutional proposals for self-government in India. The conference failed primarily due to disagreement between Congress and the Muslim League over representation. Mountbatten was the last Viceroy (1947), while Wellington was an earlier Viceroy (1931-1936).

The Surat Split of 1907 was a major division in the Indian National Congress between the Moderates (led by Gopal Krishna Gokhale) and the Extremists (led by Bal Gangadhar Tilak). The split occurred over differences in methodology regarding achieving self-rule. 1987 is an implausible distractor, and 1900 and 1904 are close but incorrect dates.

NOTE: This question reflects pre-August 2019 constitutional arrangements. Jammu and Kashmir previously had Article 370 granting it special autonomy and a separate constitution. Post-2019, J&K no longer has this special status. Other states like Kerala, Mizoram, and Nagaland operate under the unified Indian Constitution without separate constitutions.

The Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is appointed by the President of India under Article 316 of the Constitution. The UPSC is a constitutional body responsible for recruiting civil servants. The Chief Minister and Governor do not have authority over UPSC appointments, maintaining the commission's independence. An IAS officer is below the UPSC Chairman in administrative hierarchy.

The Finance Commission is constituted by the President every five years under Article 280 of the Indian Constitution. It recommends the distribution of financial resources between the Centre and states. The quinquennial (five-year) timing aligns with the planning cycle, though the President can constitute it earlier if needed. Four, three, and two years are not the constitutional frequency.

Climate (temperature, rainfall, and seasonal variations) is the most important factor in soil formation as it influences weathering rates, organic matter decomposition, and chemical processes. Different climates produce different soil types (e.g., laterite in tropical areas, chernozem in grasslands). Soil gravity, rock cover, and soil dimension are not primary factors in pedogenesis (soil formation).

India is divided into 8 PIN code zones numbered 1-8 (not 6, 7, or 9). Each zone covers a geographic region: North (1&2), West (3&4), South (5&6), East (7&8), and Army Postal Service (9). The first digit of a 6-digit PIN indicates the zone. This system was created in 1972 to streamline mail distribution.

Red soil gets its characteristic color from iron oxide (Fe2O3) content, which forms through extensive leaching in tropical and subtropical regions. The iron accumulates in the soil profile, creating the reddish hue. Ascorbic acid is vitamin C, not a soil component. Ferrite is a magnetic iron compound but not the coloring agent. Potash is potassium, unrelated to soil color.

Gobar gas (biogas) primarily contains methane (50-70%), along with carbon dioxide (30-40%) and trace amounts of hydrogen sulfide. It is produced by anaerobic decomposition of organic matter (cow dung, etc.). Ethane is present in trace quantities only. 'Carbon' and 'Nitroflourine' are incorrect - carbon is not a gas at STP, and 'Nitroflourine' is not a recognized chemical term.

Solid carbon dioxide is called dry ice because it sublimates (transitions directly from solid to gas) at atmospheric pressure, which creates a cooling effect similar to regular ice but without melting into liquid. Dry ice is used primarily for cooling and preservation.

Dr. D. Subbarao succeeded Dr. Y. Venugopal Reddy as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India in September 2008. Subbarao served as RBI Governor from 2008 to 2013, overseeing India's monetary policy during the global financial crisis period.
