Sarnath is located near Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. This is where Buddha delivered his first sermon to his five disciples, making it one of the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage sites. The site contains the Dhamek Stupa and Ashoka Pillar.

Jantar Mantar is an astronomical observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur in 1724. The Delhi observatory contains 13 architectural astronomy instruments used for precise observations of celestial bodies. Similar observatories exist in Jaipur, Ujjain, and Varanasi.

Panch Mahal is a five-story palace located in Fatehpur Sikri near Agra. Built by Emperor Akbar in the 16th century, it was used for entertainment and relaxation. The structure resembles a Buddhist temple and shows Persian architectural influence.

Hawa Mahal or 'Palace of Winds' is located in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, it features 953 small windows called jharokhas that allowed royal women to observe street life without being seen. It's an excellent example of Rajput architecture.

The Golden Temple, also known as Harmandir Sahib, is located in Amritsar, Punjab. It's the holiest gurdwara and the most important pilgrimage site of Sikhism. The temple's upper floors are covered in gold, giving it its name, and it houses the Guru Granth Sahib.

Amarnath Cave is located in Jammu and Kashmir in the Himalayas at an altitude of 3,888 meters. It's a Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, featuring a natural ice lingam that forms inside the cave. The pilgrimage occurs during July-August when the lingam is visible.

Shimla is the capital of Himachal Pradesh. It was the summer capital of British India and remains a popular hill station. The city is known for its colonial architecture, Mall Road, and scenic location in the foothills of the Himalayas.

Imphal is the capital of Manipur. Located in northeastern India, it's the center of Manipuri culture and history. The city is known for the Kangla Fort, Loktak Lake nearby, and being the site of the Battle of Imphal during World War II.

Dal Lake is located in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. It's famous for its houseboats, shikaras (traditional boats), and Mughal gardens on its shores. The lake is integral to Srinagar's tourism and local economy, and the Mughal emperor Jahangir called it 'paradise on earth'.

Dehradun is the capital of Uttarakhand (formerly Uttaranchal). Located in the Doon Valley, it's known for educational institutions like the Forest Research Institute and prestigious boarding schools. The city sits at the foothills of the Himalayas.

Chandigarh is the capital of Haryana (and also Punjab). It's a planned city designed by architect Le Corbusier and was the first planned city in independent India. Known for its urban design, Sector system, and Rock Garden, it serves as capital for both states since Punjab's reorganization in 1966.

Patna is the capital city of Bihar. Ranchi is the capital of Jharkhand, while Muzaffarpur and Gaya are important cities in Bihar but not the state capital.

Dispur is the capital of Assam. Guwahati is the largest city in Assam but not the capital, while Dibrugarh and Tezpur are other important cities in the state.

Bhubaneswar is the capital of Odisha (formerly Orissa). Cuttack was the historical capital but remains an important city, while Sambalpur and Puri are other major cities in the state.
