In AACR-2 (Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, 2nd edition), parallel titles (titles in different languages or scripts for the same work) are joined by an equal sign (=). This is a standard cataloguing convention in library science.

The 7th edition of Colon Classification (CC) was published in 1987. This edition introduced significant updates to S.R. Ranganathan's classification system, incorporating new subjects and refinements to the notation scheme. Earlier editions were published in 1933 (1st), 1939 (2nd), 1950 (3rd), 1952 (4th), 1957 (5th), and 1963 (6th).

AACR-2 (Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, 2nd edition) consists of 2 parts: Part 1 covers description of library materials, while Part 2 deals with headings, uniform titles, and references. This two-part structure was designed to provide comprehensive rules for cataloguing. The first part was published in 1978, with the second part following in the same year.

The 21st edition of Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC 21) is published in four volumes. This comprehensive edition covers the entire classification scheme across multiple volumes, providing detailed schedules and tables. The four-volume format allows for extensive coverage of all disciplines while maintaining usability for cataloguers.

In Colon Classification (CCC), the Subject Analytical Entry is known as CRE (Class Resolving Entry). This specialized entry type is used when a document can be classified under multiple main classes, requiring a resolving entry to connect related classifications. The CRE helps users find materials that span multiple disciplines in the Colon Classification framework.

Seven editions of Colon Classification have been published. The first edition appeared in 1933, followed by subsequent revisions in 1939, 1950, 1952, 1957, 1963, and 1987. Each edition incorporated new developments in knowledge and refined the classification principles established by S.R. Ranganathan, the father of library classification in India.

Peek-a-Boo is a post-coordinate indexing system that uses optical coincidence cards with holes representing terms. When multiple cards are superimposed, light passes through common holes, revealing documents containing all specified terms. This true post-coordinate system allows for any combination of terms at search time, unlike PRECIS and POPSI which are pre-coordinate systems with fixed phrase structures.

The 15th edition of Dewey Decimal Classification (published in 1951) is known as the standard edition. This edition marked a significant milestone as the first comprehensive standard edition after World War II, establishing DDC as the international standard for library classification. It provided the foundation for subsequent revisions and solidified DDC's position as the world's most widely used classification system.

The Browne Charging System was devised by Nina E. Browne in 1895. This innovative circulation system used transaction cards to record book loans, allowing libraries to efficiently track borrowed materials. The system was named after its creator and became widely adopted in American libraries, representing an early mechanization of circulation processes before computerization.

The Three-Card System is used for acquisition and control of periodicals. This library management technique uses three sets of cards to track different aspects of periodical handling: one for ordering, one for receipt check-in, and one for binding decisions. The system provides comprehensive control over serial publications from acquisition to binding, ensuring that libraries maintain accurate records of their periodical collections.

Controlled vocabulary in indexing is called a thesaurus. A thesaurus provides standardized terminology for indexing and retrieval, showing relationships between terms (broader, narrower, related). It ensures consistency in indexing by controlling term selection and helping indexers choose appropriate terms. Unlike a general dictionary, a thesaurus is designed specifically for information organization and retrieval systems.

The Browne Charging System originated from the United States, having been devised by Nina E. Browne in 1895. The system was developed in the context of American library automation efforts and gained popularity in U.S. libraries. It represents an American contribution to library circulation methods, distinct from British and European systems developed during the same period.

The Kardex system was devised by Remington Rand of India Ltd. Kardex is a visible card filing system used for record-keeping in libraries and other organizations. The system uses cards arranged in visible file drawers, allowing quick access to information. Remington Rand, a major office equipment company, developed and marketed this system for efficient information management before computerization became widespread.

Inter-library loan services enable libraries to borrow materials from other libraries on behalf of patrons. This function is managed through the circulation section, which handles all lending and borrowing operations including processing requests, tracking items, and managing return timelines. Acquisition section deals with purchasing materials, technical section processes materials for shelving, and reference section assists with research queries.

Kardex is a card-based tracking system specifically designed for maintaining records of periodical holdings. It helps libraries track which issues of magazines and journals they have received, which are missing, and where they are located. It is not used for classification or cataloguing purposes, but rather for serials management.

'Living with Books' is a seminal work that focuses on the principles and practices of library book selection. It deals with evaluating, choosing, and acquiring books for library collections based on quality, relevance, and user needs. It is not about classification, cataloguing, or general administration.

The Three Cards System was developed by S.R. Ranganathan as a method for library cataloguing. It uses three types of cards - the main entry card, classified card, and added entry card - to provide multiple access points to library materials. Neena Browne and C.A. Cutter contributed to other aspects of library science, but Ranganathan is specifically associated with the Three Cards System.

In Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) 21st edition, Table Number 1 contains Standard Subdivisions (also called Table 1). These standard subdivisions can be added to any number in the main schedules to provide form, time, place, or language aspects. Tables 2-7 serve different purposes like geographic areas, languages, ethnic groups, etc.

The Newark System is a specific method of charging system used in libraries for tracking borrowed materials. It uses various trays or slots to track books checked out to different patrons or categories. It is not used for stock verification, catalogue filing, or periodical records, but specifically for circulation/charging operations.

In Classified Catalogue Code (CCC), the edition statement is recorded in the Title section of the main entry. The main entry is organized into specific sections including the heading section, title section, note section, and tracing section, with edition information appearing as part of the title description.

In Classified Catalogue Code (CCC), tracing is provided on the back of the main entry card. Tracing includes additional access points like subject, author, or title tracings that help users find the item through different search approaches. This convention maximizes the utility of each catalogue card.
