This device could measure plant growth responses to various stimuli with extreme precision, detecting movements as small as 0.0001 mm. It demonstrated that plants respond to light, temperature, and other environmental factors, challenging conventional views about plant sensitivity. CV Raman discovered the Raman Effect, and Lister pioneered antiseptic surgery.
