Ammonium bicarbonate is a white, crystalline powder with a slight odour of ammonia .It is insoluble in acetone and alcohols. When reacted with acids, carbon dioxide is produced, while reactions with alkalis give ammonia. It is used in the food industry as a raising agent for flat baked goods, such as cookies and crackers.

Being fairly chemically inert, relatively non-toxic, and white, alumina is a favoured filler for plastics. Alumina is a common ingredient in sunscreen.

All are semiconductors.

Antimony trioxide is the inorganic compound with the formula Sb₂O₃. It is the most important commercial compound of antimony. It is found in nature as the minerals valentinite and senarmontite.It is an opacifying agent for glass, ceramics and enamels.

Ammonium nitrate, is a white crystalline solid at room temperature and standard pressure. It is commonly used in agriculture as a high-nitrogen fertilizer, and has also been used as an oxidizing agent in explosives, including improvised explosive devices.

Ammonia, either directly or indirectly, is also a building block for the synthesis of many pharmaceuticals.

Barium sulfate is a low surface area material used as a support for selectively hydrogenating functional groups sensitive to overreduction.

Beryllium bromide is a chemical compound with the formula BeBr₂. It is very hygroscopic and dissolves well in water.

It is a white solid that is crystalline but often appears as a fine powder. It has a slightly salty, alkaline taste. It is a component of the mineral natron and is found dissolved in many mineral springs.It is primarily used in cooking (baking) where it reacts with other components to release carbon dioxide, which causes dough to rise.

Beryllium hydride, is a chemical compound of beryllium and hydrogen, commonly used in rocket fuel. Unlike the ionically bonded hydrides of the heavier Group 2 elements, beryllium hydride is covalently bonded.

A borane is a chemical compound of boron and hydrogen. The boranes comprise a large group of compounds with the generic formulae of BxHy. These compounds do not occur in nature. Many of the boranes readily oxidise on contact with air, some violently.

Bismuth(III) oxide is found naturally as a mineral bismite and sphaerobismoite but it is usually obtained as a by-product of the smelting of copper and lead ores. Bismuth trioxide is commonly used to produce the Dragon's eggs effect in fireworks, as a replacement of red lead.

It is commonly used as a test for sulfate ion. In industry, barium chloride is mainly used in the purification of brine solution in caustic chlorine plants and also in the manufacture of heat treatment salts, case hardening of steel, in the manufacture of pigments, and in the manufacture of other barium salts. BaCl₂ is also used in fireworks to give a bright green colour.

Boron trichloride, BCl₃ is a valuable reagent in organic synthesis. It is a starting material for the production of elemental boron. It is also used in the refining of aluminium, magnesium, zinc and copper alloys to remove nitrides, carbides, and oxides from molten metal.

Beryllium nitride is prepared by heating beryllium metal powder with dry nitrogen in an oxygen-free atmosphere in temperatures between 700 and 1400 °C. It is used in refractory ceramics as well as in nuclear reactors and to produce radioactive carbon-14 for tracer applications.

Cadmium arsenide is a crystalline semiconductor with a tetragonal structure in the II-V family. It is a n-type intrinsic semiconductor. Cadmium arsenide is used in infrared detectors using Nernst effect, and in thin-film dynamic pressure sensors. It can also be used to make magnetoresistors, and finds use in in photodetectors.

Aluminium phosphide is an inorganic compound used as a wide band gap semiconductor and a fumigant. This colourless solid is generally sold as a grey-green-yellow powder due to the presence of impurities arising from hydrolysis and oxidation.

Cadmium fluoride is a mostly water-insoluble source of cadmium used in oxygen-sensitive applications, such as the production of metallic alloys. In extremely low concentrations (ppm), this and other fluoride compounds are used in limited medical treatment protocols.

Cadmium telluride (CdTe) is a crystalline compound formed from cadmium and tellurium. It is used as an infrared optical window and a solar cell material. It is usually sandwiched with cadmium sulfide to form a p-n junction photovoltaic solar cell.

Calcium hydride is the chemical compound with the formula CaH₂. This grey powder (white if pure, which is rare) reacts vigorously with water liberating hydrogen gas. CaH₂ is thus used as a drying agent, i.e. a desiccant.

Calcium chlorate is the calcium salt of chloric acid with the chemical formula of Ca(ClO₃)₂. Like potassium chlorate, it is a strong oxidizer and can be used in pyrotechnic formulations. It is a crystalline substance. It may explode when heated strongly or in the presence of reducing agents, such as organic matter.

Its crystal structure forms a major structural type where each caesium ion is coordinated by 8 chlorine ions.Caesium chloride is widely used in isopycnic centrifugation for separating various types of DNA. It is a reagent in analytica  l chemistry, where it is used to identify ions by the colour and morphology of the precipitate.

Carbonyl sulfide is used  as a herbicide. Carbonyl sulfide is a potential alternative fumigant to methyl bromide and phosphine. In some cases, however, residues on the grain result in flavours that are unacceptable to consumers, e.g., barley used for brewing.

Carbon tetrachloride is the organic compound with the formula CCl₄. It was formerly widely used in fire extinguishers, as a precursor to refrigerants, and as a cleaning agent. It is a colourless liquid with a sweet smell that can be detected at low levels.
