Bhaskaracharya II (also known as Bhaskara II) was the 12th-century Indian mathematician who, in his work Lilavati, discussed division by zero and stated that a quantity divided by zero results in an infinite quantity (khahara). While earlier mathematicians like Brahmagupta had worked with zero, it was Bhaskara II who explicitly made this statement about division by zero yielding infinity.

Brahmagupta (7th century CE) was the first to treat zero as a number and establish rules for arithmetic operations with zero in his Brahmasphutasiddhanta (628 CE). He defined zero as a number (not just a placeholder) and explained operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division involving zero. While Aryabhatta used zero as a placeholder, Brahmagupta was the first to treat it as an actual number with mathematical properties.

René Descartes is credited with inventing analytic geometry in the 17th century. His revolutionary approach combined algebra and geometry by representing geometric shapes with equations and introducing the Cartesian coordinate system (x-y plane). This allowed geometric problems to be solved using algebraic methods and vice versa. Archimedes was ancient Greek, John Napier invented logarithms, and Georg Cantor worked on set theory much later.

A tetrahedron is a three-dimensional shape with four triangular faces. 'Tetra' comes from Greek meaning 'four'. All faces of a regular tetrahedron are equal equilateral triangles. A heptahedron would have 7 faces, polygon is a 2D shape with straight sides, and heptagon is a 2D shape with 7 straight sides.

A decagon is a polygon with 10 sides. The prefix 'deca' or 'deci' means ten. Examples: decade (10 years), decathlon (10 events). A hexagon has 6 sides, octagon has 8 sides, and dodecagon has 12 sides. This is basic polygon nomenclature derived from Greek/Latin numerical prefixes.

A heptagon is a polygon with 7 sides. The prefix 'hepta' means seven. Regular heptagons have 7 equal sides and 7 equal angles. Pentagon has 5 sides, hexagon has 6 sides, and octagon has 8 sides. The naming follows Greek numerical prefixes.

The decimal numeral system, including the concept of zero, was developed in ancient India and later transmitted to the Islamic world and Europe by Arab traders, hence the misnomer Arabic numerals.

In the metric system and scientific notation, 'mega' is the SI prefix for 10^6 or one million (1,000,000). Common examples: megabyte (MB) = 1 million bytes, megahertz (MHz) = 1 million hertz. 17 is the sum of four consecutive prime numbers: 2 + 3 + 5 + 7 = 17. These are the first four prime numbers. Checking other options: 11 is not the sum of four consecutive primes, 13 is not (3 + 5 + 7 + 11 = 26), and 23 is not either. 17 holds this unique property. This is a specific number theory fact about prime numbers.

Descartes is called the father of modern mathematics because he invented Cartesian coordinates, which connected algebra and geometry. This revolutionary approach allowed geometric problems to be solved using algebraic equations and vice versa.
