Archaeological evidence suggests the Harappan civilization had a relatively egalitarian social structure with no clear hierarchies, slaves, or caste system. Unlike later Indian civilizations, Harappan society shows signs of social equality.

Alexander invaded India in 326 BCE during the reign of the Nanda dynasty. The Maurya dynasty was established later by Chandragupta Maurya after Alexander's departure, while Sunga and Kanva dynasties came even later.

The Gupta period (320-550 CE) is known as the Golden Age of Indian history, particularly for remarkable achievements in art, architecture, literature, and science. While they did patronize scholars, art and architecture were the most celebrated achievements.

In the Mughal administrative system, the pargana was the basic unit for land revenue assessment. A pargana consisted of several villages and was headed by a shiqdar or amil. The revenue demand was calculated and collected at the pargana level.

The Permanent Settlement introduced by Lord Cornwallis fixed the revenue demand that zamindars had to pay to the British. Since this amount was fixed regardless of actual collection, zamindars exploited tenants ruthlessly to maximize profits, often charging more than the actual land revenue to ensure their own income. The system placed no limits on what zamindars could extract from peasants.

The Saka Era was founded by Kushan ruler Kanishka I in 78 CE. This calendar system continues to be used by the Government of India for official purposes alongside the Gregorian calendar. The other rulers listed founded different eras: Vikramaditya (Vikrama Era 57 BCE), Ashoka, and Samudragupta were associated with different time periods.

Gandhiji launched his first nationwide satyagraha in 1919 against the Rowlatt Act, which allowed detention without trial and violated civil liberties. This marked the beginning of Gandhi's mass movement strategy. Champaran (1917) was his earlier satyagraha but was regional; the Simon Commission came later in 1928.

Lord Curzon, the Viceroy of India from 1899-1905, partitioned Bengal in 1905 officially for administrative convenience but actually to divide the Hindu-Muslim population along communal lines and weaken the nationalist movement. The partition was later annulled in 1911.

The Satavahanas (also called Satvahanas) ruled from the 1st century BCE to 3rd century CE, making them the oldest dynasty among the options. Razia Sultan (1236-1240 CE) was the first and only woman to rule the Delhi Sultanate in her own right. She defied gender norms to ascend the throne and ruled for four years. The other women listed - Chand Bibi (Ahmadnagar), Jahanara (Mughal princess), and Nur Jahan (influence behind Jahangir) - never ruled from Delhi.

The Alai Darwaza built by Alauddin Khalji in 1311 at the Qutub Complex is considered one of the earliest surviving buildings in India featuring a true dome. The Gol Gumbaz (17th century) is much later, while Tomb of Sultan Garhi and Arhai Din Ka Jhopra do not have true domes.

Archaeological evidence, including seals found in Mesopotamia (Sumer), confirms trade relations between the Indus Valley Civilization and Sumerian civilization. The Sumerians referred to a land called 'Meluhha,' which scholars identify with the Indus Valley region. There's no direct evidence of Egyptian or Chinese contact during this period.

Most Ajanta caves were excavated during the Gupta period (5th-6th century CE) under the patronage of Gupta rulers and Vakataka kings. This period is considered the golden age of Indian art. The caves were rediscovered in 1819 by a British officer.

Persian was the official court language and administrative language of the Mughal Empire. All official documents, chronicles, and correspondence were conducted in Persian. While Urdu developed during this period as a spoken language mixing Persian, Arabic, and local dialects, Persian remained the language of the court and elite.

Lala Har Dayal was a prominent leader of the Ghadar Party (spelled 'Gadhar' here - a typo), founded in 1913 to organize an armed rebellion against British rule in India. Based in San Francisco, it aimed to incite Indian soldiers in the British Army to revolt. Har Dayal was a key ideologue before leaving for Europe in 1914.

The Maurya Dynasty (322-185 BCE) is the oldest among the options, founded by Chandragupta Maurya after overthrowing the Nanda Empire. The Kushan Empire (1st-3rd century CE), Gupta Empire (4th-6th century CE), and Kanva Dynasty (71-26 BCE) all came later. The Mauryas represent India's first major empire spanning most of the subcontinent.

Kalibangan excavation revealed distinctive brick platforms used as granaries, a characteristic feature of Harappan urban planning. These elevated structures protected grain from moisture and pests, demonstrating the advanced architectural and storage techniques of the Indus Valley Civilization.

The Sabarmati River originates in the Aravalli Range of Rajasthan, specifically near Udaipur district. It flows through Gujarat and empties into the Gulf of Khambhat. The Aravallis are one of the oldest mountain ranges in India and serve as a crucial water divide for several rivers in western India.

Kapila is traditionally regarded as the founder of the Samkhya school of Hindu philosophy, one of the six orthodox (astika) darshanas. Samkhya is dualistic, proposing two fundamental realities: purusha (consciousness) and prakriti (matter). It is considered one of the oldest Indian philosophical systems.

Alauddin Khilji deliberately kept the Ulema (Islamic scholars) out of state administration and policy-making. He believed that religious scholars should not interfere in political matters, and he took practical measures to curb their influence. This was part of his broader strategy to centralize power and reduce traditional checks on his authority.
