The Biological Classification (SAS)

“Origin of Species” is a world of scientific literature. The book ‘Origin of Species’ was written by Charles Darwin. 

They are unicellular, colonial or filamentous, marine or terrestrial algae. Blue-green algae have chlorophyll, similar to green plants and hence, are photosynthetic autotrophs.

In the five kingdom classification of Whittaker, there is no mention of these acellular organisms called virus.

Bacteria can also be used in the place of pesticides in the biological pest control. This commonly uses Bacillus thuringiensis (also called BT), a Gram-positive, soil dwelling bacterium. This bacteria is used as a Lepidopteran-specific insecticide under trade names such as Dipel and Thuricide.

The gram negative bacteria has an extra layer of lipid on the outside of the cell wall and appears pink during the Gram staining procedure.

Whittaker (1969) gave the five kingdom classification based on which he classified living organisms in five groups: Monera, Protista, Fungi, Plantae and Animalia.

Angiosperms are so named because the seeds are enclosed within a flower, which has male and female reproductive structures. Gymnosperms are plants in which the ovules are not enclosed by any ovary wall and remain exposed or naked both before and after fertilisation.
Adhatoda is an angiosperm, but cedrus belongs to gymnosperm.

Teleost fishes (are bony fishes) have developed an air bladder attached to the digestive system. It helps to give buoyancy.

These viruses are pathogens for both humans and animals. They are pleiomorphic, coated, single positive strand RNA viruses. In the electron microscope, they have a doughnut shape.

Setae is a hair like structure that is seen in insects and arthopods possessing locomotory organelles.

In starfish, locomotion is done by tube feet.

Poxviruses viruses can infect both vertebrate and invertebrate animals. The virion is exceptionally large, and carries its genome in a single, linear, double-stranded segment of DNA.

The lipid bilayer of HIV is studded with a number of host-cell proteins only during the budding process.

Penicillin acts on the cell wall of the pathogens and precipitates them, thereby inhibiting the growth of bacterial colony.

The class basidiomycetes includes those members that produce their basidia and basidiospores on or in a basidiocarp.

Mycena asterina is a species of agaric fungus. It grows singly or scattered on fallen leaves in Atlantic forests. The fruit bodies of the fungus are bioluminescent.
