Reproductive Health (Class X)

When conditions become unfavourable, i.e.  food, moisture, and proper temperature are not available,  this is the preferred mode of reproduction by unicellular organisms.

Spores can be disseminated through air and water or even through some other carriers like animals. This helps an organism to spread its presence to a wider geographical area.

It is the female reproductive part of a flower.

Since flowers and seeds are related to sexual propagation, plants that rarely produce flowers or seeds like potato choose vegetative propagation.

They are hermaphrodites - those who are capable of mating with other sexually mature individual. Hence, no need of courtship.

The reserve food is stored in the cotyledons.

Both sepals and petals are sterile.

Follicle Stimulating Hormone initiates puberty.

It responds to stimulation to produce female orgasm.

In birds, reproductive organs are developed only in the breeding season and otherwise the reproductive organs are not there. This reduces body weight and makes flying easier.

Final moult turns larva into pupa (cocoon).

The fimbriae swipe over the outside of the ovaries to pick up released ova and carry them into the infundibulum.

It is a function of the fallopian tubes.

Testes are ellipsoid glandular organs responsible for the production of sperm and testosterone.

Cowper’s glands secrete a thin alkaline fluid into the urethra that lubricates the urethra and neutralises acid from urine remaining in the urethra after urination.

The length of the epididymis delays the release of the sperm and allows them to mature.

Within an hour of birth, the placenta detaches from the uterus and is itself delivered which is referred to as 'afterbirth'.

The adrenal glands produce hormones that cause increased armpit sweating, body odour, acne, and armpit and pubic hair. This process is called adrenarche and is a sign of puberty in both boys and girls.
