Teaching Methods and Pedagogy in Mathematics

Bloom was the first person to give taxonomy of educational objectives.  

There are following two types of diagnostic tests:
(1) Educational Diagnostic Test
(2) Physical or Clinical Diagnostic Test

As the students of class IX have the knowledge of alternate method to solve the question. Therefore, solving problems is a suitable approach to introduce them to coordinate geometry.

Supervised study of mathematics is based on the principle of activity and individual differences. Dr. NR Swarup and Dr. SC Oberoi have remarked that in this technique, keeping in view the individual differences, every child is provided with an opportunity to do his tasks and study.

There are following four maxims of teaching:
(1) Easy to complex
(2) Known to unknown
(3) Concrete to abstract
(4) Particular to general  

There are following six principles of home work:
(1) Principle of accuracy
(2) Principle of interest
(3) Principle of clearness
(4) Principle of relevance
(5) Principle of economy
(6) Principle of sequence
Therefore, the principle of standard is not a principle of home work.

Principles of teaching tell us the role of a teacher in the development of a child.
Methods of teaching define how a teacher can teach different topics by different methods.
Aims of teaching define the goal of teaching any subject whereas objectives of teaching are the ways to help the teacher in achieving the aim of teaching any subject.
Techniques of teaching are the devices used to make teaching more effective.   

The lecture method is teacher centred. All the other given methods are child centred.

There are following four steps of supervised study in Mathematics:
(1) Introduction/preparation for their study
(2) Instruction for the study
(3) Supervision by the teacher
(4) Development of black-board summary
Therefore, evaluation is not a step in supervised study in Mathematics. 

Only kindergarten method can be used at a nursery stage. All other methods are used at higher levels of teaching.   

Lesson plan has originated from Gestalt psychology.
