Feasibility (System Analysis)

Economic feasibility considers the cost/benefits of the proposed system, details of the costs that will be incurred by the organisation adopting the new systemconsidering the development costs and running costs.

A data flow diagram (DFD) is a graphical representation of the flow of data through an information system, modeling its process aspects. Often they are a preliminary step used to create an overview of the system, which can later be elaborated.

This is not carried out in the analysis phase. Hence, it is not a responsibility of the analyst.

Software requirement specification is the end product of the analysis and requirement gathering phase. It is prepared by the analyst.

Feasibility report is the end product of the feasibility analysis.

A use case is a structure for documenting the functional requirements for a system, usually involving software, whether that is new or being changed.

A prototype is like a model or a simulation of a real thing. In system analysis, a prototype is a model of the system (or subsystem) under analysis.

A user story is one or more sentence in the everyday or business language of the end user or user of a system that captures what a user does or needs to do as part of his or her job function. A user story is an informal statement of the requirement as long as the correspondence of acceptance testing procedures is lacking.

A project will fail if it takes too long to be completed before it is useful. Typically this means estimating how long the system will take to develop, and if it can be completed in a given time period using some methods like payback period. Schedule feasibility is a measure of how reasonable the project timetable is.

This is not a role of the analyst. This is done by a software engineer.

Operational feasibility is a measure of how well a proposed system solves the problems and takes advantage of the opportunities identified during scope definition, and how it satisfies the requirements identified in the requirements analysis phase of system development.

An algorithm for the development of the system is not a part of the feasibility report. This study is undertaken during the design phase.

This is one of the most important sections of the feasibility study as it examines the marketability of the product.

Legal feasibility determines whether the proposed system conflicts with legal requirements. For e.g. copyright legislation.

This is the objective of the feasibility analysis.
