Delhi is located inland on the Gangetic plains, far from the coastline. Mumbai is on the Arabian Sea coast, Chennai is on the Bay of Bengal coast, and Kolkata is near the Hooghly River which connects to the Bay of Bengal. Only Delhi has no coastal proximity.

Mountains influence rainfall through orographic lifting - when moist air is forced to rise over mountains, it cools and condenses, causing precipitation on the windward side. This creates rain shadows on the leeward side. Soil type, population density, and sunrise/sunset times do not directly affect rainfall formation.

Soil nature (texture, composition) does not directly affect air temperature. Pollution can affect temperature through the greenhouse effect and urban heat islands. Trees affect temperature through shade and evapotranspiration. Population density creates urban heat islands. Soil is not a climatic factor.

Humidity is the measure of water vapor content in the air. Climate refers to long-term weather patterns, rancidity is fat oxidation, and rain is liquid precipitation. Humidity specifically quantifies the amount of moisture present in the atmosphere.

Earth's shape (being an oblate spheroid) is not a factor that affects climate. Climate is influenced by distance from the sun (solar radiation), Earth's tilt (causes seasons), and distance from the equator (latitude affecting solar angle and temperature distribution). The spherical shape itself doesn't vary between regions.

Camels are called the 'ship of the desert' because they are the primary means of transport across desert regions, capable of carrying heavy loads and traveling long distances without water. Ground squirrels and fennecs are desert animals but not transport animals, while cactus is a plant.

A rain gauge is an instrument specifically designed to measure the amount of precipitation (rainfall) over a period. It does not measure rain direction (that would be a wind vane), detect pollutants (that requires chemical analysis), or merely detect occurrence (which is a qualitative observation - the gauge measures quantity).

The summer solstice occurs around June 21-22 in the northern hemisphere, when the Earth's axial tilt is maximally toward the sun. This results in the maximum daylight hours of the year.

Climate refers to the average weather conditions (temperature, humidity, precipitation, wind) observed over a long period, typically 30+ years. Unlike weather (short-term atmospheric state), climate represents long-term patterns and trends.

A hygrometer is specifically designed to measure relative humidity (the amount of water vapor in air compared to the maximum it can hold at that temperature). Maximum-minimum thermometers measure temperature range, rain gauges measure precipitation, and stethoscopes are medical instruments for listening to body sounds.

Cacti are desert plants with multiple water-conserving adaptations: thick, waxy stems to minimize water loss, spines instead of leaves to reduce surface area, shallow but extensive root systems to quickly absorb rainwater, and the ability to store water in their tissues for long periods.

Kangaroo rats are desert rodents that can metabolically produce water by breaking down dry seeds in their digestive system. This metabolic water production, combined with extremely efficient kidneys that produce concentrated urine, allows them to survive without drinking free water.

Polar bears are Arctic animals adapted to cold environments (thick blubber, white fur for camouflage in snow). They cannot survive in hot tropical or temperate climates. Gorillas, sloths, and jaguars are all found in tropical rainforests (Central/South America, Africa).

Elephant is found in temperate climates.

 Since, Himalayas are located in the northern part of India. As a result, climate of this part is affected.

Since, the places which are closer to the poles are colder than the places closer to equator, so this is an incorrect statement.

 Ground squirrels remain dormant during summers.
