This character was created by one of India’s most noted auteur. The character is a private investigator and stars in a series of novels and short stories. He first made his appearance in the short story in the magazine ‘Sandesh’. The stories are narrated by his cousin who is based on Arthur Conan Doyle’s conception of John Watson.

Feluda, created by filmmaker Satyajit Ray, is a Bengali private investigator who first appeared in the short story 'Danger in Darjeeling' in Sandesh magazine (1965). The stories are narrated by his cousin Tapesh, explicitly modeled after Dr. Watson from the Sherlock Holmes series. Byomkresh Bakshi is also a detective but was created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay, not Ray, and appeared later.
