Damascus is widely considered the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world, with evidence of habitation dating back to around 8,000-10,000 BC. While Jericho is also very old, Damascus has the strongest evidence for continuous occupation. Constantinople (Istanbul) is ancient but younger than Damascus.
