Ghatotkacha was the son of Bhima (Bheemasena) and the rakshasi Hidimbi. He inherited demonic powers from his mother and became a powerful warrior who fought on the Pandava side in the Kurukshetra war. He famously battled Karna and was killed when Karna used the divine Shakti weapon given by Indra.
