Venezuela's official name is the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, adopted in 1999 under Hugo Chávez's new constitution to honor Simón Bolívar. The previous official name was simply Republic of Venezuela. The terms 'Federal Republic' and 'Venezuelan Republic' are not the correct official names.
